Would you like to pass on your practical knowledge to our students? Then come aboard IU International University as a freelancer. Whilst teaching, you will pass on your practical experience to our students and engage in a lively exchange with them. What is particularly important to us is that freelancers are also part of our teams: they benefit from the exchange of ideas and mutual support and can fully contribute their expertise.  

To strengthen our team, we are looking for lecturers (m/f/d) on a fee basis for the following modules, each with a volume of 18 teaching units, for the summer semester 2022 in Berlin:

Project: Software Engineering

Your future tasks

 Independent execution of courses on the basis of provided teaching and learning materials (lecture notes, slide sets, etc.)
Imparting scientifical knowledge with a high degree of practical relevance 
Individual support of students in all questions concerning the contents of the course

You will convince us with

Successfully completed university studies (at least Master´s degree or equivalent) 
Extensive professional experience, including at least 3 years of relevant practical experience in the subject area to be taught outside of the university 
Pedagogical aptitude and didactic qualification, ideally proven by experience in academic teaching 
Enjoyment in dealing with young people 
Fluency in written and spoken English   
Basic knowledge in the use of common office programs

The courses in myStudies will consist of 18 teaching units of 45 minutes per module and are completed in the period from July to August. The courses usually take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

Am I a permanent employee or freelancer in IU Academia?

Our Professors are permanently employed and our Lecturers, Tutors, and Authors are all Freelancers.

Is there a teacher forum for discussion & exchange?

Absolutely! At every location we have a regular faculty conference. We also encourage dialogue via our collaboration tools and all our module leaders are available for questions at any time.

What is the application process for a lecturer assignment?

Once we review your application you will receive a further questionnaire by e-mail to be completed and returned. We will promptly send you relevant information by e-mail about teaching at IU. We will also inform you about the process regarding a trial lecture.

When do lectures take place in dual studies?

Our dual study program includes modules that take place every two weeks and modules that are taught every week on specific days. Normally, our lectures for a module take place in blocks of 4-6 UE (UE = 45 minutes). Planning of the blocks is done in consultation with our lecturers. The weekly teaching hours are: Mon-Fri 8:00-20:00.
