Would you like to pass on your practical knowledge to our students? Then come aboard IU International University as a freelancer. Whilst teaching, you will pass on your practical experience to our students and engage in a lively exchange with them. What is particularly important to us is that freelancers are also part of our teams: they benefit from the exchange of ideas and mutual support and can fully contribute their expertise.

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a visiting lecturer (m/f/d) on a fee basis for Deep Learning with a volume of 45 teaching units for the coming Summer Semester 2022. 

Your future tasks 

  • Independent preparation of the course

  • Transfer of scientifically sound knowledge with a high practical relevance

  • Preparation and correction of final exams or papers
     

You will convince us with 

  • Excellent English written and oral language skills

  • Successfully completed university studies corresponding to the subject area (at least Master's degree)  

  • Professional experience, including at least 3 years of relevant practical experience in the subject area to be taught outside of the university  

  • Pedagogical aptitude and didactic qualification, ideally proven by experience in academic teaching

  • Intercultural awareness and competence, ideally acquired through international experience

The course will consist of 45 teaching units of 45 minutes each. Lectures should be delivered during semester on a weekly basis (Monday to Friday); our teaching period runs from 4 April 2022 until 30 July 2022.

Am I a permanent employee or freelancer in IU Academia?
Our Professors are permanently employed and our Lecturers, Tutors, and Authors are all Freelancers.
Is there a teacher forum for discussion & exchange?
Absolutely! At every location we have a regular faculty conference. We also encourage dialogue via our collaboration tools and all our module leaders are available for questions at any time.
What is the application process for a lecturer assignment?
Once we review your application you will receive a further questionnaire by e-mail to be completed and returned.  We will promptly send you relevant information by e-mail about teaching at IU. We will also inform you about the process regarding a trial lecture.
When do lectures take place in dual studies?
Our dual study program includes modules that take place every two weeks and modules that are taught every week on specific days. Normally, our lectures for a module take place in blocks of 4-6 UE (UE = 45 minutes). Planning of the blocks is done in consultation with our lecturers. The weekly teaching hours are: Mon-Fri 8:00-20:00.
